I want to get Bespoked. How does it work?
How long will my appointment last?
How long before I receive my finished garments?
Suits "start at" $895, but how much do they really cost?
What should I wear to my initial fitting?
Can my suit be altered later if I gain or lose weight?
How should I care for my new clothes?
be•spoke adj.: said especially of clothes. Making or selling custom-made clothing. A bespoke tailor.
The word bespoke has its roots in Savile Row, where it refers to clothing made to a customer’s exact specifications. Bespoke tailoring involves the creation of a unique pattern for each customer, differentiating it from made-to-measure, which merely adjusts a standard preexisting pattern.

We believe ordering custom clothing should be just as fun as wearing it. When you first come in we’ll start by asking a few questions about your tastes and preferences so we get to know you better. (Our first question is usually whether you prefer red, white or the hard stuff - all of which flows freely anytime we’re open). Once we know what you like, we’ll help you choose from our wide range of fabrics and styling details, including the boldest linings around.
If you need a little extra fashion advice, you’ve come to the right place. We pride ourselves on our expert and honest style advice. We’ll happily give you our opinion on everything from the cut that works best for your build to patterns and colors that are most flattering on you.
Once you’ve designed your new clothes, we’ll take a whole lot of measurements to ensure a precise fit. When your garments are completed, we will let you know right away and schedule you for a second fitting. If any alterations are needed, we perform them on-site in about a week.
After that, go forth and be irresistible!
Yes, please - but don’t let this scare you! We encourage appointments so that each client receives the attention he deserves. We’re happy to accommodate same-day fittings whenever space is available, so don’t hesitate to call us at the last minute.
Generally speaking, the design and measuring process takes about an hour your first time visiting us. If you’re in a rush we can do a fitting in less than 15 minutes, and we’ve had some appointments last more than three hours, so it depends on the client.
Suits in our Black Label Collection typically take about five to six weeks for initial delivery, while suits in our Platinum Collection may take a week or two more. If your garment requires any alterations, they are generally completed in about a week after your fitting.
Suits in our Signature Collection, which include at least three fittings with our master tailor, take a minimum of twelve weeks to complete.
Our shirts typically require four to six weeks for delivery.
If for any reason your garment does not arrive for a first fitting within our estimated delivery time, we’ll give you a credit equal to 25% of the value of the garment toward any future Michael Andrews purchase. Please be sure to read our Fine Print for applicable exceptions and other, well, fine print.
Expedited orders with guaranteed 4-week delivery (including alterations) are available for shirts and suits in our Black Label Collection for an additional 20% service charge.
We don’t believe in "bait and switch" pricing, aggressive up-selling, or nickel and diming for extras. We value our integrity too much for that kind of nonsense.
We have an excellent selection of custom suits in quality fabrics for $895 and $995. At $1195, you’re in our sweet spot with gorgeous fabrics from top mills such as Dormeuil, John Foster and Vitale Barberis. For the true connoisseur, we have a selection of super luxurious fabrics that cost hundreds (even thousands) of dollars per yard, but remember that generally speaking the more costly the fabric, the more delicate it becomes. Very fine wools must be treated with extra care and are not always optimal for clients with demanding schedules.
Approximately 90% of our custom shirts sell for $145.
Custom pants start $235, and we have a tremendous selection under $300.
Custom overcoats start at $895, with price ranges consistent with our suit prices. 100% cashmere overcoats average $1300.
Nope. We’ll happily make a single shirt or pair of pants if that’s all you want.
We request a half deposit at the time the order is placed. The remaining balance is payable once your order is delivered. We accept cash, check and most major credit cards. Really good scotch has been accepted on occasion as well.
We offer more than 2,000 luxurious fabrics from many of the world’s finest mills including Zegna, Scabal, Vitale Barberis, Dormeuil, Thomas Mason and more. Our suiting fabrics include wool and wool/cashmere blends ranging from Super 100’s to Super 150’s, as well as seasonal weight and performance blend fabrics. We also carry exceptional 100% cashmere fabrics for blazers and overcoats. Our shirting fabrics are all 100% cotton and come in hundreds of patterns, styles and colors.
Certainly. While our fabric selection is vast, we understand that customers sometimes desire very specific fabrics that we don’t carry in-stock. In these cases, we can recommend various fabric stores around the New York area that should have just what you’re looking for.
We strongly encourage you to wear your best fitting suit to your appointment. This will assist us in the measuring process, and more importantly, will help us understand your particular style and fit preferences. If you don’t own a suit (or at least a suit that you like), please wear dress slacks and a dress shirt, as it’s difficult to get accurate measurements if you’re wearing jeans and a t-shirt.
Generally, yes. We leave extra seem allowance to allow our garments to be easily altered. We offer free alterations on your garment for a full year after delivery.
To maximize the life of your garments, we recommend the following:
1. Dry clean your suits only when they’re dirty, ideally not more than three to four times a year. The chemicals used by dry cleaners can damage the fabric, and unfortunately, the finer and more expensive the wool, the more delicate it is. When selecting a dry cleaner, try to find one that uses organic cleaning agents, which are considered to be more gentle on fabrics. (We use Aphrodite Cleaners, which has numerous locations around Manhattan.)
2. After each wear, hang your suit outside the closet overnight so that moisture and odor can escape the fabric. Hang your trousers long ways from the bottom hem with a pant hanger - this allows the weight of the garment to pull out wrinkles naturally, thus reducing the need for pressing.
3. Do not use starch on your shirts. It makes the cotton fibers brittle, which in turn can cause the fabric to wear out more quickly. Also, be sure to remove your collar stays as they can cause scorch marks if left in when the shirt is pressed.
4. If you have problems with underarm stains, ring around the collar, food spots, etc., apply Zout stain remover (or Shout if you can’t find its similar-sounding competitor) as soon as you take off the shirt. It will help keep the stain from setting before you launder the shirt.
We do not currently offer women’s custom clothing, but plan to do so in the near future. In the meantime, check out Rebecca and Drew Manufacturing. Their exclusive Triofit sizing system offer’s the next best thing to custom apparel for women.
